At Potomac Grove Psychiatry, we are aware of the high cost of health care. We strive to provide the highest quality care for the most reasonable fee. We encourage you to talk with your doctor/therapist about developing a treatment plan that meets your mental health needs and is affordable. It is in your best interest to learn about your mental health insurance benefits and to decide what you can afford to spend for the cost of your care.
Insurance
At Potomac Grove Psychiatry several doctors and therapists are available to work with you. However, they do not all accept the same insurance plans. There are differences in what our M.D.s (psychiatrists) accept and what our therapists accept.
If you would like to use your insurance toward the cost of your appointments at Potomac Grove Psychiatry we encourage you to verify your mental health benefits prior to your first appointment. We participate with the following insurances:
United HealthCare / United Behavioral Health. All of our M.D.'s (psychiatrists) and therapists are participating providers. Some of the UHC plans they participate in are listed below.
- MAMSI
- Optimum Choice
-
MDIPA
NOTE: While we may participate with UHC, we do not participate with some of their products such as Value Options, Coventry or OneNet.
CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield. Therapists only. M.D.'s (psychiatrists) are not included as CareFirst providers.)
TriCare
Insurance plans do not treat Mental Health benefits the same as they treat your other Medical Specialist health benefits. The deductibles that apply to your Medical Specialist health benefits are not usually the same as the ones that apply to Mental Health benefits. Also, your Mental Health co-pay is often different. Mental Health co-payments tend to be more than the co-payments you make to other Medical Specialists.
Contact your insurance carrier to verify the following:
-
What amount/percentage of each visit you can expect to pay. Deductibles can alter the copays if they have not been met.
-
How many visits your plan authorizes per calendar year. Be sure to ask what the “beginning and ending dates” are for your authorization for mental health treatment.
-
Is an insurance referral necessary? If an authorization/referral is required, please coordinate with your Primary Care Physician. If your plan requires a referral from your primary care doctor, you must hand carry the referral to your first appointment with a doctor at PGP.
IMPORTANT: Without a required referral, you will not be able to see the physician. Please bring a picture I.D. and your insurance card. We will need to copy these for your chart.
Payment
For insurance plans we participate with:
At time of your appointment you will be expected to pay the required co-pay.
For insurance plans that we do not participate with: If you are insured by a plan that we do not participate with, you will pay the full charge for services rendered at the time of the appointment.
We accept checks, money orders, MasterCard and Visa. We do not accept cash. We will not file your insurance claim for you. We will, however, give you a copy of your “SuperBill” reflecting the services you received and your payment. If your visits are covered by your insurance policy you may submit this to your insurance carrier.
Please make sure to take a copy of your "SuperBill" statements for your records. There may be a charge for requested copies of your SuperBills for past appointments.
