Dr. Judy Tyson
Co-Director, Potomac Grove Psychiatry
Whether you are overwhelmed by marital problems, recovering from an affair, healing from substance abuse, facing a difficult life transition, or feeling discouraged, perhaps I can help you.
My approach is to help you use personal struggle and problems as opportunities for making positive life changes. When you are ready to face your challenging issues and create more joy in your life, it is time to seek help.
My style is encouraging, interactive, and solution-focused. Together we explore your feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and values to discover how they influence your life. As you develop life goals, I coach you in making the changes necessary to achieve them.
I have developed a couple’s therapy approach that considers the individual needs and learning style of the adults involved. Sometimes couples sessions can be sufficient as a treatment option. Or, for some couples, it can be useful to use individual or group therapy treatment modalities as part of an effective treatment plan.
When needed, my husband, Dr. Kopolow, can join us for couple sessions, individual couples coaching, or group therapy. And I have found that many couples can succeed in healing their relationship even if only one of you come to the therapy sessions.
As a family therapist I have learned that step-families have challenges particular to the issues that arise in the attempt to live as a “blended” family.
You can use therapy to develop the life and loving relationships you want. The benefits of your therapy, individual or couples, will last long after therapy has ended. It can be a wise investment in your future.
